To deepen bilingual education and keep pace with global trends, the Language Center of National United University (NUU) actively organized a series of lectures and workshops during the second semester of the 2025–2026 academic year. The program aimed to create a learning environment that integrates technology with interdisciplinary practice, covering the use of generative AI in teaching, immersive virtual reality experiences, cross-cultural communication, and strategies for English proficiency tests.

Through these initiatives, students were encouraged to develop personalized and self-directed digital learning models while strengthening their interdisciplinary bilingual skills and global competitiveness in the age of AI.

In the area of faculty development, the Language Center invited Associate Professor Fang-Yin Lo to deliver a lecture entitled “Technology × Aesthetics × Language: Creating Innovative Multimodal English Teaching.” Professor Lo explored the impact of generative AI on education and encouraged teachers to shift the focus of learning toward critical thinking and deeper reflection.

During the session, she demonstrated how virtual reality, SDG-themed picture book creation, and artistic aesthetics could be integrated into language teaching. By breaking down the limitations of the traditional classroom, these approaches provided faculty members with a wide range of ideas and practical examples for innovative instruction.

To build a stronger shared vision for bilingual education, the Language Center also regularly organized Bilingual Teaching Enhancement and Exchange Forums, where instructors Chung-Yu Yang, Chiung-Ying Huang, and Szu-Han Wang shared their teaching experiences and practical strategies.

Topics included using AI for learning diagnosis and personalized feedback, incorporating digital technology into English-medium instruction, strengthening students’ digital literacy, and using e-books and the MyET speaking system to enhance students’ confidence in spoken English. These practices have helped establish a strong foundation for high-quality bilingual education at NUU.

For students, the Language Center offered a variety of themed lectures throughout the academic year. To promote cross-cultural understanding, sessions such as “My Learning Journey in the United Kingdom” and “From Textbooks to Tartan Skirts” encouraged students to move beyond cultural boundaries and broaden their international perspectives.

In the areas of individual learning and technological innovation, lectures such as “The Minecraft Model of Self-Directed Language Learning” and “A Few Minutes a Day: Learning English through Short Videos” helped students develop personalized approaches to English learning and make greater use of digital tools.

The Language Center also placed strong emphasis on practical communication and career readiness. Lectures including “How to Do a Successful Interview in English” and “Three British Entrepreneurs Who Changed the World — What Can We Learn from Them?” were organized to strengthen students’ English interview skills and career-related communication abilities.

These activities produced highly positive learning outcomes. Students not only gained cultural knowledge through engaging and lively presentations, but also developed broader perspectives and stronger international competitiveness through multidimensional thinking and discussion.

To further enhance students’ performance on foreign language proficiency tests, the Language Center launched four practical workshops designed by Chiung-Ying Huang.

The AI-Assisted English Speaking Test Practice Workshop and AI-Assisted English Writing Test Practice Workshop taught students how to use AI diagnostic tools to identify and correct pronunciation and grammatical errors in real time, while also improving their ability to organize ideas and construct more sophisticated sentences.

Meanwhile, the two TOEIC Speaking Workshops provided an in-depth introduction to TOEIC Speaking question types and practical strategies for improving fluency and identifying key information in charts and visual materials. These workshops were designed to help students prepare more effectively while reducing test-related anxiety.

The strong outcomes of this series of lectures and workshops have not only brought faculty members and students closer to emerging digital technologies, but have also strengthened the bilingual learning environment across the NUU campus.

Looking ahead, the Language Center will continue to build on these achievements by developing more diverse and innovative language-learning activities, supporting NUU students as they strengthen their communication skills, embrace new technologies, and stand out in an increasingly international and competitive world.
