The first Mandarin Corner of the semester took place on November 26 and brought together international students and members of the NUU World Youth Volunteers for a relaxed and enjoyable evening. Although everyone was a bit shy at the beginning, the atmosphere quickly came alive as the group played interactive games filled with laughter and friendly competition. Students passed words silently, guessed gestures, and worked together through fun challenges that helped them warm up and connect naturally.

One of the most memorable moments was the kite coloring activity. Each group created unique designs inspired by their hometowns, personal experiences, or simply their creativity. Many students introduced their artwork in Chinese, turning the activity into a light and meaningful cultural exchange. Throughout the event, the volunteers stayed by the students’ side, chatting in a mix of Chinese and English. This supportive environment allowed everyone to practice comfortably, and several Vietnamese students mentioned it was the first time they felt truly relaxed speaking Chinese.

The overall atmosphere was warm, lively, and filled with new friendships forming without effort. One student commented, “I thought it might be awkward, but it was actually so much fun—I want to join again next time.” We sincerely thank the World Youth Volunteers for their thoughtful preparation and all the students who joined and made the event so vibrant. More language and cultural exchange activities are on the way, and we look forward to welcoming everyone again.
